Rapid City leaders gather to dedicate the city to Jesus
Seven years ago, Fr. Brian Christensen joined a group of pastors from around the area on Wednesday mornings to pray for the schools, healthcare workers, and families of Rapid City and surrounding communities. “It’s been a positive experience for me to join these other men in praying for the people of our city,” shared Fr. Brian. “When they started talking about the idea of dedicating the city to Jesus, I thought, we do want to do this. We want to hand over everything to the grace and providence of God.” The group that started with only a few people has grown, and now they organize several events throughout the year to gather together in prayer.
Fr. Brian was asked to be one of the prayer leaders at Tuesday’s “This City Belongs to Jesus,” held at the Monument. He helped to lead others in praying for the Church, the government, and for the family. Nearly 1,000 people gathered at this year’s event, which included times of prayer and worship and several speakers from the city’s religious and civic community, ending with 42 leaders onstage, reading a prayer of dedication over the city.
