Native American Ministries

The Office of Native Ministry serves as a liaison between the Native community and the diocese. This ministry is significant because Native Americans comprise 27% of the Catholic population in the diocese. The Director of the Office of Native Ministry works in collaboration with the staff at the Sioux Spiritual Center to develop and promote programs relevant to the spiritual needs of Native People.

Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry provides opportunities for youth to encounter Christ and to give parishes what they need to draw their young people into a lively relationship with God. Help build the future of the Catholic Church in our diocese.

Faith Formation

The mission of the Office of Faith Formation is to evangelize, catechize, and form disciples in the image of Christ. Staff works with parishioners through the Veritatis Splendor Institute, REFUEL, and Faith on the Road programs.

St. Francis Fund

This fund provides short term resources for people to cover family expenses related to medical or other emergencies.

Vocations and Seminary Education

Jesus invites us to take the risk and to embrace a friendship of sacrifice — one that puts others before on’s own needs and desires to be a true friend in every sense of the word. It is our ministry to hep our young people encounter this friendship of Christ, and accompany them as they model their lives on that friendship. The Diocese of Rapid City is blessed by its seminarians, but we always need more who hear the voice of Christ and respond as he beckons. Will you support the education of our future priests?

Sioux Spiritual Center

The center, built by the diocese and staffed by Jesuits, offers a variety of spiritual and educational programs. At the center, staff strive to create a sacred environment, a place between heaven and earth (Mahpiya na Make Okonga in the Lakota language), where God’s Spirit and the Lakota people can become one.
