June is the Month of the Sacred Heart
By Bishop Peter Muhich
As we ponder the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the month of June I invite you to allow the Lord to transform your hearts. As this popular devotion enjoins us to pray, “Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine!”

Orientation for new (and new-ish) catechists will provide some basic information and best practices in the ministry of catechesis. How does a catechist effectively communicate the faith? What are some helpful pedagogical practices in the classroom? How do catechists grow in their own faith? How do catechists consistently improve their methods? All this and more at our new catechist orientation! All new (and new-ish) catechists are encouraged to attend.

Event Details
There are still available slots for the Covenant School of Spiritual Direction in partnership with the University of Mary. The three-session program will produce trained spiritual directors from among the clergy, religious and laity to help guide people into a closer union with God, easing the load on the current cadre of spiritual directors and expanding access to this spiritual practice. The availability of one or more spiritual directors in a parish has the potential for great renewal and transformation in the life of the faithful. The Covenant School is not primarily academic, but rather spiritually transforming. There are no tests, and no papers are required. The curriculum is rigorous, with a packed schedule of presentations, practice, and prayer during each of the two-week sessions. If you considered becoming a spiritual director, or you know someone who might be a good director, visit http://cssd.one for more details. You may also contact the co-directors Dr. Carole Brown, PhD: 605-985-5906; cbrown@diorc.org or Deacon Greg Sass: 605-343-3541 x2228; gsass@diorc.org.
