The mission of the Communications Department is three fold:
- To promote the message of the bishop and the mission of the Catholic Church in western South Dakota through written and electronic media.
- To foster positive public relations between the diocese and local communities.
- To provide outreach to the parishes in the diocese.
The Communications Department has several components:
- West River Catholic which is the diocesan newspaper. This office is served by Editor/Ad Manager, Laurie Hallstrom and Assistant Editor, Becky Berreth.
- Social media which includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (rapidcitydiorc), Flickr, and the website. Becky Berreth is our specialist who handles all these online communication tools.
- Live streaming/video recordings which includes special Masses and Holy Days for the homebound
- Podcasting on the Official Podcast of the Diocese of Rapid City
