At noon today in the Vatican, Pope Francis appointed Most Rev. Robert D. Gruss as the 7thBishop of the Diocese of Saginaw in Michigan. He will succeed the late Bishop Joseph R. Cistone. The Diocese of Saginaw is currently being administered by Bishop Walter A. Hurley.

Today, Friday, May 24, there will be a press conference in Saginaw to introduce and welcome Bishop Gruss as the new bishop. He will be installed as the Bishop of Saginaw on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM.

The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw includes 56 parishes in 11 counties of Mid-Michigan.The diocese encompasses 6,955 square miles and is home to approximately 100,000 Catholics.
