WSDCF Fishing Tournament and raffle
The Western South Dakota Catholic Foundation announces its Fishing Tournament events. First up is a Family Fishing Tournament to benefit diocesan seminarian education. Children ages 7-15 will have an opportunity to fish at Canyon Lake Park in Rapid City on Saturday, June 17, from noon until 3 p.m. Later Blessed Sacrament Church on Jackson Blvd., will host Mass and a Fish Fry for all. Fr. Tim Hoag will celebrate Mass at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus Council 8844 hosting a fish fry.
The WSDCF staff is working with Fr. Adam Hofer and Lynn Wadell on the next event. On Saturday, June 24, they will host an all-day fishing tourney at Shadehill Reservoir near Lemmon. Once again, all proceeds will benefit seminarian educational development. Following the fishing tournament, Fr. Mark McCormick will celebrate an outdoor Mass. St. Mary’s Church has scheduled a fish dinner.
If fishing isn’t your thing but you would still like to support our seminarians, you can purchase raffle tickets from Tanya Cooper and Fr. Mark McCormick. Your purchase gives you the chance to win one of 3 prizes: $500, $300, or $200 cash with tickets costing $10 per ticket or 3 for $25. The drawing for the cash will be held at Shadehill June 24, 2023 but you need not be present to win!
Fr. Mark McCormick said, “Please continue to pray for our seminarians and my brother priests. Your participation in these events extends to us the necessary capital to operate a wonderful vocations program with a professional staff. Thank you for your support and prayers for our current seminarians: Robert Kinyon, Jesse Willis, Max Vetch, Todd VanderMay, Blane Schriock, Josiah Hanson, Dillon Johnson, Reid Murie, Blase Gebes, and Liam Pelayic. ”
Bishop Peter Muhich added, “The support of the foundation enables us to think bigger and meet the many needs facing the Rapid City Catholic Diocese. We are very blessed.”
