Timber Lake teachers bring eucharistic miracles to life
In the northeast corner of the diocese, the preschool through fifth-grade youth of Holy Cross, St. Mary, and Holy Rosary parishes had the opportunity to learn about ten different eucharistic miracles during their regular Wednesday afternoon faith formation program on March 15. Children rotated around to stations where volunteers shared details about these miracles through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and stories. They also received mementos to take home that will help them remember the specific miracles.
The idea for this learning experience began when the Eucharistic Miracles Display created by Bl. Carlos Acutis made a stop at St. Joseph Center in Timber Lake in October of 2022. The display was traveling across the diocese along with relics of Bl. Carlos and St. Manuel Gonzalez Garcia as part of the National Eucharistic Revival. A few adults in attendance, who also volunteer for the local annual Tour of Saints youth learning event, commented how great it would be to take the same concept of Tour of Saints and teach the youth about these amazing eucharistic miracles.
They shared their idea with Sarah Schweitzer, youth faith formation coordinator, and she ran with the idea. Schweitzer bought the book “The Eucharistic Miracles of the World,” which contains all the panels created by Bl. Carlos. She selected miracles that would be interesting to the youth, coordinated with volunteers, found items to purchase for the mementos, and facilitated the youth event.
