December 20 was the sixth night of the Filipino novena Masses celebrated at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rapid City. The Advent tradition is a spiritual preparation for the coming of Our Savior. On this night the children reenacted the Annunciation with the Angel Gabriel appearing to Mary. That is followed by the journey to Bethlehem to await the birth of the Christ Child. The principal celebrant was Fr. Jason Marco from the Diocese of Cheyenne. Fr. Ed Witt, pastor at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, Rapid City, was the concelebrant. Members of the Filipino community were joined by volunteers for the choir hymns. Following Mass a traditional Filipino dinner was served in St. Joseph Hall.
