Rise, Let Us Be on Our Way: An Encounter with the Living Gospel
A weekly podcast with Bishop Bullock
In the spirit of Pope St. John Paul II’s invitation—“Rise, let us be on our way” (cf. Mt. 26:46)—this weekly podcast offers a homily-centered reflection on the scriptures—often the Gospel in particular—proclaimed at Sunday Mass. Each episode invites listeners to encounter Jesus Christ anew through Sacred Scripture, allowing His living Word to stir hearts, enlighten minds, and strengthen discipleship.
As a bishop and fellow pilgrim on the journey of faith, I reflect prayerfully on the Gospel and other scripture of the week, drawing out its meaning for our daily lives and our shared mission as the Church, the Body of Christ. Together, we listen for the voice of the Risen Lord who still walks with us, teaches us, and calls us forward—just as He did with the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
At the heart of this journey is the Holy Eucharist. The weekly encounter with the Gospel prepares us to recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread, where His sacrifice, death, and resurrection become present for us. In Word and Sacrament, we are lifted up with Him, renewed in hope, and sent forth to live what we have received.
