Charlie Simonyak, Webelo Cub Scout in Pack 17 of Spearfish, completed the Parvuli Dei program to earn his religious emblem and knot designed to encourage scouts to grow strong in their faith. 

To earn the pin, Simonyak completed a workbook with various tasks, questions, and reflections related to goals of the program: 

• Help children develop an awareness of God’s love for each of His special, uniquely created beings.  
• Help children become aware of and understand their identity as an important member of their family, their community, and the family of God.  
• To help children develop an awareness as a member of their parish and the Body of Christ.  
• To aid in the awareness of the responsibility of service to others, which grows out of God’s love for us. 
• To help a child grow in love and forgiveness.

Once completed, the workbook was given to the Pack 17 Cubmaster for approval. Charlie received his religious knot at a Pack 17 Meeting on May 21, 2024, from Cubmaster Lucas Humbracht, and to celebrate with his parish family, he was presented with his Parvuli Dei pin by his Den Leader, Tommy Mead, on March 19, at the parish St. Joseph Feast Day celebration. The religious knot is a special award that can be worn on the scout uniform for life.
