Catholic Schools across the diocese celebrated National Catholic Schools Week January 26-February 1. This year’s theme was “United in Faith and Community.” Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members.
Rapid City Catholic School System
The Rapid City Catholic School System kicked off NCSW with an All Systems Mass and the annul Men in Black Basketball game. At the Mass, Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun read a proclamation declaring National Catholic Schools Week.
Sapa Un Academy, St. Francis
Sapa Un Jesuit Academy celebrated National Catholic Schools Week by giving back to those who serve the community. Students, alongside their parents, baked homemade treats and delivered them to the hardworking crews of the road department and local firefighters. This act of gratitude not only highlighted the school’s commitment to faith and service but also brought joy to those who keep the community safe. Sapa Un’s celebration exemplifies the spirit.
The Religious Education program joined the students, collaborating on a banner symbolizing unity, faith, and the importance of Catholic education.

Our Lady of Lourdes, Porcupine
Students at Our Lady of Lourdes celebrated with thank you cards for staff and families, a service project at the senior center, and dress up days during the week.
