FNE May crowning
Bishop Peter Muhich joined the Regina Caeli chapter of the Federation North American Explorers for their 8th annual May crowning. The Explorers, who range in age from 6 to 20 years old, prepared the event by learning about and making floral arrangements, learning lashing skills to make the bier, practicing how to carry the bier, fulfilling the role of servers and learning the Regina Caeli antiphon. After a procession into the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a short liturgy was celebrated during which Bishop Muhich exhorted the Explorers and families present to always run to the Mother of Jesus, for she is our mother, too. Fintan O’Connor, a Tenderpad in the Timberwolf den, crowned the statue of Mary as he is the Explorer who has most recently received his first communion. The flowers and statue will remain at the cathedral for the next few days.
May Crownings throughout the diocese
Bishop Peter Muhich also visited the Black Hills State University Newman Center Sunday, April 30, for Mass and May Crowning. If you have pictures from a parish May crowning, send them to us at: communications@diorc.org
