Local KCs donate ultrasound to Zoe Care, Yankton
On March 12, three members from KC Council 1489 from the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rapid City, attended the dedication of the newest ultrasound machine at the newest care center in our state, Zoe Care Center located in Yankton, SD. The Knights of Columbus have an initiative of helping fund ultrasound machines when needed by pregnancy care centers throughout the United States. South Dakota KC councils started raising funds in September 2021 and by the end of three months $18,000 had been raised and the Supreme KC Headquarters matched the funds for a total of $36,000.
These funds were used by Zoe Care to purchase the much-needed machine. Numerous KC members from Yankton and their surrounding areas and some of their wives attended. Members from Council 1489 who attended this event were Dr. Greg Scherr, Steve Hasenorhl and Grandknight Ernie Garcia along with his wife, Nancy.
