Young men invited to prayer and dinner with Bishop Bullock

April 8, Fr. Andrzej Wyrostek, Piedmont, invited high school-age men to an evening of prayer and dinner with Bishop Scott Bullock at the Our Lady of the Black Hills Parish rectory. The two clergy sat down to dinner with 11 young guys. “We shared a meal, prayed together the Liturgy of the Hours and then shared a conversation,” said Father Wyrostek.

He told them, “No matter what your vocation in life be, as long as God is present in it, you will do just fine.”

The priest continued to share his gratitude and happiness with God for the gift of his vocation. “I had great joy during the octave of Easter. I could remember my early days of vocation, and the first moments when I was trying to figure out what it is that God asks of me. I was 17-years old when someone for the first time asked me what I want to do with my life, and if I have perhaps considered a journey with God in the service in his Church. I had no idea how to respond, but one thing was for sure, my life was never the same,” he said.

Sitting together with this lively bunch of young fellows, he said he felt like he was having a moment of time travel — renewed in the grace of God and in his vocation to the priesthood. “I do not know what God has in store for these young men, but as long as they make room for God in their life, in their decisions, they will be able to bring many good things into their life,” said Father Wyrostek.

He added this prayer: “Thank you merciful God for the gift of their presence, for the sacrifices their parents make and most of all, for your grace that guides them. Good Lord, let them know that as long as they are making room for you in their life, that you will be there. Bless Lord our diocese with new and holy vocations to priesthood, diaconate, religious life and holy marriages.”
