During the second week of December, volunteers from Our Lady of the Black Hills, Piedmont, and the community headed by the Piedmont Valley Sewing Club and the Piedmont Valley Food Pantry collect food and gifts for those in need. The gifts are sorted, volunteers gather to wrap presents for an entire day, food boxes full of Christmas dinner are assembled, and then the Black Hawk and Piedmont Volunteer Fire Departments gather to deliver gifts and Christmas dinner to over 70 families in Piedmont, Black Hawk, and Summerset. Over 750 gifts are given out each year thanks to the generosity of the OLBH parishioners and the area churches. For an extra treat, one of the choirs from Stagebarn Middle School caroled for the gift wrappers. This year they sang Silent Night in German and regaled the wrappers with a Christmas medley helping everyone to feel the Christmas spirit. (Courtesy photos)
