Sr. Therese Marie Furois, OSB, celebrated her 70th jubilee of monastic profession on August 15. She grew up in St. Onge and was professed at St. Martin’s when it was in Sturgis, in 1952. For more than 40 years she was involved in the health care ministry as a nurse, teacher, and chaplain. In her retirement she offers Prayerful Painting retreat days and hospitality to all. Her hobbies include art, making note cards, writing poetry, and reading.
Sr. Teresa Hinker, OSB, celebrated the 70th Anniversary of her first vows on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. She joined the IBVM Community in Toronto, Canada, in 1949. After 25 years there, she discovered the Divine Office and monastic lifestyle as she stayed at St. Martin’s while studying nursing at the School of Mines. After graduation, she transferred her vows to St. Martin Monastery. She has lived a life of prayer and work, Ora et Labora, through her daily Divine Office, private prayer, meditation and caring for the sick. She is a Registered Nurse. Her hobbies include reading, crocheting, and making jelly.
