Sr. Teresa Hinker, OSB, celebrated the 70th Anniversary of her first vows on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. She joined the IBVM Community in Toronto, Canada, in 1949. After 25 years there, she discovered the Divine Office and monastic lifestyle as she stayed at St. Martin’s while studying nursing at the School of Mines. After graduation, she transferred her vows to St. Martin Monastery. She has lived a life of prayer and work, Ora et Labora, through her daily Divine Office, private prayer, meditation and caring for the sick. She is a Registered Nurse. Her hobbies include reading, crocheting, and making jelly.
