U.S. bishops provide format for
contacting senators and representative
The Pro-Life Office of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has provided an opportunity for Catholics to urge Congress to maintain widely-supported pro-life laws and oppose the federal funding and promotion of abortion.
If you would like to participate in this effort, the text provided by the Pro-Life Office is printed in this article. The mailing and e-mail addresses of our Congressional Representative and Senators are also provided.

Pro-Life Text
Dear Senator,
or Dear Representative,
At this time of serious national challenges, Americans should unite to serve the good of all, born and unborn. I am especially concerned that an effort much like earlier versions of The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), will be introduced once again for legislative consideration. Such an effort would be one of the most radical and divisive pro-abortion bill ever introduced in Congress, as it would create a “fundamental right” to abortion that government could not limit but would have to support. FOCA would overturn many existing widely-supported policies, including laws protecting parental involvement and conscience rights and those preventing partial-birth abortion and taxpayer funding of abortion.
Please oppose FOCA or any similar measure.
Also, please retain existing laws against funding and promotion of abortion. It is especially important that Congress retain these laws in the various appropriations bills, e.g., the Hyde Amendment in the Labor/Health and Human Services appropriations bill.
As your constituent, I would appreciate a response telling me how you would vote on these matters.
