Generations of Faith (GOF) is an innovative approach to faith
formation that involves all generations in learning and growing
in their faith. Through parish preparation programs and participation
in church life, lifelong faith formation is established.
The GOF approach to faith formation is guided by key principles
and practices:
Event-Centered. The curriculum is fashioned around the events
of the shared life of the church: the church year, the sacraments
and liturgy, prayer and spirituality, and prayer.
Lifelong and Cyclic. The events of church life form a curriculum
that immerses people in the natural rhythm and pattern of the life
of the faith community.
Emergent. The beliefs and practices for living as a Catholic today
emerge from the life and events of the faith community.
Alignment. The whole parish uses the same theological focus to
prepare for common events and themes.
Catechetical Focus. The preparation programs, home activities,
and reflections lead people to focus on the event and apply the
learning to their lives.
Home Faith Formation. Home materials help families celebrate traditions
and rituals, pray together, serve others and work for justice,
and enrich relationships.
