MARRIAGE AND INVALIDITY Reconciliation and Healing
WHAT ARE THE RIGHTS OF THE PARTIES?
Canon Law requires that both spouses be notified by the Tribunal when a Petition is accepted for a marriage study. The Respondent is to be given the opportunity to testify and present witnesses and to be kept informed of the canonical steps in the process, up to and including the completion of the case. The Respondent and the Petitioner have the right to appeal the decision to a higher Tribunal, if further evidence is produced on which to base the appeal.
